Getting to Orlando hotels from the Orlando International Airport

If you are flying into Orlando on vacation we suggest to all guests to rent a car besides taking a shuttle bus to your Orlando or Kissimmee hotel. Why should you rent a car? Simple, the cost of a shuttle service or taxi from the airport to the Disney World area will cost you around $17 per person for a family of four this works out to be $68.00 to get to Disney World and then another $68.00 to get back to the airport.

In addition, if you have access to your car while you are on vacation it makes life a lot easier. For example, what if you get sunburned at the parks or you have allergies and you can’t stop sneezing…it sure is nice to be able to simply drive to the closest CVS or Walgreens Drug Store. Also, food is the single biggest expense you will have on your vacation, so by having a car accessible to you this will give you an opportunity to get away from the Disney World area where the prices tend to be inflated.

If you search around you should be able to find a car rentals for around the same price as what it cost you to get a shuttle bus to the hotel. Here are a few tips for saving money on your Orlando car rental:
1)    Rent From a Car Rental Company which is located off site. By renting from a car company which is located on the Orlando International Airport grounds the fees and taxes go up. For example, there is a 2% or 3% surcharge for car companies located at the airport. Plus, it is often easier to return a car to an offsite car rental company this way you do not have to mess with all the traffic.
2)    Rent an economy car. These cars are typically the cheapest cars to rent, and you are not going to be in the car that much so why rent a big luxury vehicle.
3)    Make a reservation before you come to Orlando then walk up to the counter and ask them if they have any specials. Often times, the front desk personnel will tell you of specials which are cheaper than what you originally booked the car for. Most car rental companies do not ask for a credit card number to make a reservation so you do not have to worry about being double billed.
